All the Best Things Happen in July

Except, of course, for this horrible class I am taking. I admit that I already have a lack of interest and esteem for liberal arts, but this class is taking things to a new level. Sub-basement. It is a sociology course that might have been interesting to me at some point in my life, but that time is not now. It's so bad that if the school said I could just get a C and not go back, I would take the deal. Side-note, I've never ever had a C. Ever. Not even in handwriting or PE.

My grandmother had carpal tunnel surgery of Friday, so my mom is staying at Mamaw's house for a while to help her out. I think Mamaw thought that she would be very limited in what she would be able to do, but she is SO not limited. She can use her right hand for almost every task she would need to for a short amount of time. She is, however, still milking it a little by having my mom bring her coffee and serving her food. She also inexplicably forgot how to change the channel on her TV yesterday, forcing us to watch several minutes of Care Bears. We could not change the channel because Mama was helping me install Mamaw's new blinds. It took three separate drills, lots of different screws, and some ingenuity, but we got it done eventually.

I would like to write more, but I have a test tomorrow, and I have a bit more reading to do. And I'm watching HawthoRNe on TNT. As someone who is in nursing school and knows a little bit about a nurse's responsibilities and limitations, I can't help but point out occasionally that "a nurse would never do that" or "nurses don't call time of death," but it's still a pretty good show.

My Hobby

So, I've been making shirts recently. Or, more accurately, designing things I can paint on shirts. I made some with my nieces a few weeks ago and that was really fun. Being a former teacher really comes in handy. I have planning and preparation (A) skills like nobody's business. Anyhoo, here are a few examples of shirts I've made. Note to Ashley: The last picture is of Jake's shirt. If you don't want to see it, be careful when scrolling.

These are the ones my nieces made, respectively.

I made this one for a friend of mine who just had a baby.

I made these for the girls for Father's Day. I didn't have the idea on Mother's Day, so Mama gets her gift as a shirt for Sawyer. Daddy gets one for Finley because he's her favoritest person in the whole wide world.

I made this one for me! For those of you that don't watch LOST, this is The Flame logo.

This one is for my friend Ashley's baby. His name is Jake. I don't know how to turn it 90 degrees for easier viewing, but you get the idea.

Mad World

I am having a problem. A pretty big one. I live in a small town. I live alone. And by alone, I mean ALONE. I don’t know anyone in town that I am not related to. Also, the people I am related to are old. I don’t know anyone my age. The people I go to school with are mostly a LOT younger than me or a lot older. They don’t live here.

My problem is that I don’t have any friends anywhere near me. It’s very tiring. That’s probably a weird way to describe it, but I need to see people, and I don’t really get to. I don’t really know how to resolve this, either. It’s not like it was in college with interesting people around everywhere. I met people at Wal-Mart, for goodness sake! I went to Wal-Mart last night, not only did I not see anyone my age, I also could not find the Exacto-Knife I went for. My Wal-Mart is SO crappy, they don’t even carry Exacto-Knives.

I know I’m better off here than I was in Fayetteville. I at least have my family nearby, but that’s just not enough.

Sorry about the whiny post. I’m just really unhappy about this and needed to share.

Nothing's Up

I wanted to write today, but I have nothing to say. I don't have a test tomorrow, which is weird because we have had a test almost every Monday this semester. I normally study on Sunday, so I'm kind of at a loss today. My parents were here this weekend, and they just left to go camping. I'm going to take Mamaw to them on Tuesday. That's boring.

I'm finally watching the last ERs. I'm about five away from the finale right now.

I have to draw some kidneys.

I bought a crossword puzzles book, but they are too easy.

Isn't there some kind of gambling that is lawful for 18 year-olds?

My TiVo is recording a movie on HBO right now. I don't get HBO.

Maybe something will come up that I feel like writing about soon.

Once Again Into the Breach

She's back for another try. Blogging from the couch and a heated blanket. Watching Chuck, the best new show around. Eating chili because it's delicious. Wearing a watch.

Well, that's a pretty good update, don't you think?

JUST KIDDIN'!!!

For reals though, I'm living in the Taylor and going to Nursing School. I have a lot of spare time these days because school only takes up a few hours a week, but those hours are so scattered that I can't have a real job. Maybe next semester the hours will be more consolidated. So, for work, I clean Mamaw's house and do odd jobs for people. I'll mow, fix a computer, call the phone company, or whatever needs to be done that my old relatives can't do. Works out well.

I'm bored a lot. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in my age range in a 10 mile radius, and I don't know anyone outside of that radius. I still read a lot, just not as much as before because I have to read school books now. School books are boring. I think if authors of novels were hired to write school books, students would be more successful.

Roxie is great. She stays at Mamaw's house while I'm in school and plays with her dog Tommy. Tommy is 9 years old, so he can't really keep up, but they still have lots of fun. She goes on walks with me some, but she can't handle more than a mile. She gets really thirsty and has to stop every five minutes to tinkle. Just like my mom, come to think of it.

I'll try to remember that I have a blog and post again.
